Tabor College Presents R. Mark Shipp, September 10, 2018

Tabor College Presents R. Mark Shipp, the second speaker in the vocation and service lecture series “Exaudio: Listen and Live.” He is the editor of a three-volume compilation of newly created worship pieces based on the biblical psalms, a collaboration of composers and Bible scholars. Two major public presentations will be as follows:

“The Timeless Psalms”
Part 1: Monday, Sept. 10 – 11:00 a.m.
Part 2: Monday, Sept 10 – 7:00 p.m.

Each presentation will be accompanied by the Tabor College Concert Choir who will perform fresh worship pieces based on the Psalms of the Bible.
Location: Richert Auditorium in the Shari Flaming Center for the Arts on the Tabor College campus, Hillsboro, Kansas

About R. Mark Shipp

Exaudio Speaker R. Mark ShippR. Mark Shipp is the Pat E. Harrell Professor of Old Testament at Austin Graduate School of Theology, Austin, Texas. Mark has a BA and MS from Pepperdine University and an M.Div and PhD from Princeton Theological Seminary. He has been involved in the archaeological excavation at Tel Tamar/En Hazeva, Israel, since 2004. He is the editor of Timeless: Ancient Psalms for the Church Today (vols. 1 and 2), from Abilene Christian University Press, and CD projects based on these volumes. He is also the author of Of Dead Kings and Dirges, from SBL Press, coauthor of An Akkadian Handbook, Eisenbrauns, and “1 and 2 Chronicles” in the one volume Bible Commentary, The Transforming Word, from ACUPress, as well as numerous articles. He is married to Sheree Shipp, and has two daughters, Sarah and Rachel.

The Tabor Lectureship in Vocation and Service is an annual academic lectureship in which a scholar is invited to present on a meaningful expression of Christian discipleship that arises from their professional discipline. The purpose of the lectureship is to challenge and encourage believers in their individual and collective calling of work and service for Christ and his kingdom. The term exaudio is a Latin word that means to listen, comprehend, and respond faithfully.
