President David Janzen, the fifth speaker in the vocation and service lecture series “Exaudio: Listen and Live. Janzen, a 1990 graduate of Tabor, was named the college’s 14th president in May 2021. He took office on July 1, 2021.

About Dr. David S. Janzen
Dr. David Janzen is a 1990 graduate of Tabor College, majoring in mathematics and computer science. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Kansas. After working in the software industry with Sprint from 1993-97, he concluded a 28-year teaching career as a full-time faculty member at California Polytechnic State University from 2006-21. There he served as Professor of Computer Science and as Software Engineering Coordinator.
Janzen is the cofounder of Steadfast Innovation LLC, which created award-winning software with applications for education and involving Microsoft and Google, among others. He has published thirty-eight peer-reviewed journal or conference papers and been awarded over one million dollars in research or outreach funding, including three National Science Foundation grants.
Janzen is a native of Independence, Kansas, and Enid, Oklahoma. His wife Karen attended Tabor College before graduating from Fresno Pacific University and obtaining a Master of Music in choral conducting from Northern Arizona University. They are the parents of four adult children.
About Exaudio: Listen and Live
The Tabor Lectureship in Vocation and Service is an annual academic lectureship in which a scholar is invited to present on a meaningful expression of Christian discipleship that arises from their professional discipline. The purpose of the lectureship is to challenge and encourage believers in their individual and collective calling of work and service for Christ and his kingdom. The term exaudio is a Latin word that means to listen, comprehend, and respond faithfully.
