Jada Thomas (SR, Hays, Kan.) had two artworks accepted into the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art’s National Undergraduate Juried Exhibition. The exhibition will be on display April 17-June 14, 2026, at the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art in St. Joseph, Mo.
Thomas’ two works are:
- Comfort
- Watercolor, still-life, 2025 (22 3/4″ x 13 1/4″)
- Warmth
- Watercolor, still-life, 2025 (24″ x 16 3/8″)
Thomas shared about the selections and the journey of making her artwork.
“As I created these paintings, I first focused on a composition that showed the cool and warm sides of life, using personal objects that brought those tones together in an image showcasing the various facets of life. I then painted one object at a time, focusing on its individual characteristics, so that when everything was finished, it would bring together each story into one collective stream of memories. These two pieces hold many reminders of my precious memories, but are also some of the first watercolors that I believe show my potential in the medium. I selected these paintings to submit in my application to the exhibition due to how it showcases my skills and desires for my future work, as well as the direction I am striving toward for future pieces.”
