Wendell Loewen, D.Min., has been named Director of Constituent and Alumni Development at Tabor College. Loewen has served the past # years as Special Assistant to the President for Constituent Engagement and Professor of Youth, Church, and Culture.

“After nearly three decades in the classroom, I deeply value the broader Tabor story,” Loewen said. “The people, churches, and alumni who have shaped and sustained this college across generations. What excites me most is the opportunity to build and deepen relationships with those who care deeply about Tabor’s mission. I look forward to connecting their stories, passions, and generosity with the ongoing work of forming students for lives of learning, work, and services for Christ and His kingdom.”

Loewen came to Tabor in 1997 to teach in the Bible department. He will continue his work with the new Graduate Studies in Ministry program and teach Bible and ministry courses as needed.

“The most appealing part has been discovering how widespread and strong the commitment to Tabor truly is,” Loewen said. “Whether it’s an alumnus reflecting on how Tabor shaped their life, faith, and career, or a church community investing in future leaders, there’s a real sense of shared purpose and mission. Getting to serve our broader constituency has expanded my appreciation for the college’s mission and reminded me that we’re part of something much larger than what happens on campus alone.”

He oversaw the planning and implementation of the 2025 Spring Phonathon and is also chairing plans for Homecoming on Oct. 17-18 of this year.

“While I’ll certainly miss the day-to-day rhythm of the classroom, I’m energized by the opportunity to serve in this new capacity,” Loewen said. “Tabor’s future depends not only on great faculty and students, but on the faithfulness and generosity of those who believe in what we’re doing. I’m grateful for the chance to steward that legacy and invite others into it.”

Loewen completed his D.Min. in Youth and Family Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary (Calif.) Previously, he earned his M.Div. in Church and Family Ministries at the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary (Calif.) and B.A. in Contemporary Christian Ministries and Physical Education at Fresno Pacific University (Calif.).
