Dear friends of Tabor,

“How is Tabor doing financially?” Second-year Tabor student William Thompson asked me this question in March. I answered that we have a balanced budget, but finances are tough in higher education. William’s question surprised me so I asked why a college Sophomore wanted to know about Tabor’s finances.

William answered, “Because I want Tabor to be here a long time so it can do for others what it has done for me.” He proceeded to tell me that he grew up in a great Christian home, and attended an MB church, but he became an atheist in high school. Tabor provided a place to ask honest questions and go deep intellectually and theologically with professors like Dr. David Faber. At Tabor, William was also surrounded by Christian friends who demonstrated authentic faith in a college environment.

In January 2024, William decided to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. “My mental health got so much better when I chose to give my life to Jesus,” said William. He recognizes that there will still be challenges, but he turned to God and his support network at Tabor for help.

Your gifts to Tabor Fund provide academic, arts, and athletic scholarships for students like William. The more you give, the more students can afford to attend Tabor.

In the last few weeks of the semester, dozens of Tabor students gave testimonies of the transformation they’ve experienced at Tabor. I was enormously impressed with Tabor students presenting their research at our Scholarship Showcase and displaying their art and designs in year-end exhibitions. Student-athletes, scholars, and servants were recognized for their accomplishments and character development

I believe the Tabor community is one of the greatest places on earth for young adults to wrestle with the big questions of life: What do I believe? What vocation should I pursue? Who are the friends that will support me throughout my life? Tabor is a place of rigorous academic preparation, authentic community and robust character and spiritual development.

Investing in Tabor is worth it because students are worth investing in. Would you help us raise the remaining $325,000 by June 30 to finish our fiscal year with a balanced budget and fund scholarships for Tabor students?

Your generous contribution will make a difference for William, Dr. David Faber and all our students and staff!
