DECA state competition Tabor competitors

Ten Tabor students finished first individually or in a team at the 2024 State DECA Competition on Friday, Feb. 23. This year’s event brought 85 students from seven colleges and universities across Kansas.

  • Tabor College
  • Cowley College
  • Johnson County Community College
  • Kansas Wesleyan University
  • Southwestern College
  • University of Kansas
  • Wichita State University

Under the leadership of Melinda Rangel, Ed.D., Marvin Sellberg Professor of Business and Entrepreneurship, Tabor’s DECA program has blossomed, producing numerous national qualifiers and also national champions.

“I was incredibly proud of our students,” Rangel said. “They worked hard to prepare for state and represented themselves and Tabor College very well. DECA is a great opportunity to showcase all the business concentrations we offer. Every business major from Accounting to Marketing can find an event to participate in and apply their classroom learning to their DECA experience.”

The International Career Development Conference will be held April 20-23 in Austin, Texas. National qualifiers have yet to be named.
