Tabor College and Hillsboro High School Present Collaborative Concert

TC Symphonic Band Fall 2017HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor Arts will present the Tabor College Symphonic Band Collaborative Concert, featuring the Hillsboro High School wind ensemble, at 7 p.m., Monday, March 12, in the Richert Auditorium of the Shari Flaming Center for the Arts.

“We are excited to feature Hillsboro High School and their director, Bruce Major, on this joint concert,” said Shawn Knopp, director of bands at Tabor. “The  ensemble is known for consistently earning top ratings at music festivals, along with their soloists and chamber ensembles, which also regularly earn high honors. It is only natural that we invite such a wonderful group of musicians to share in an evening of music making in the extraordinary Richert Auditorium.”

The collaborative concert will begin with the HHS Wind Ensemble performing their music festival repertoire. Tabor’s Symphonic Band will follow with works by John Williams, Hugh Stuart, John Mackey and Charles Carter. To conclude the concert, the symphonic band and the wind ensemble will combine to perform two selections as one band.

Major, who is director of bands for Unified School District 410, also serves as adjunct professor of percussion at Tabor College.
