Why Tabor?
I decided to come to Tabor for three reasons. The PLP leadership program was unique and provided a chance to learn from a college president in a small setting about leadership, something no other school offered. Also Tabor was the cheapest to attend out of the schools I was considering. Finally, it was a chance to play collegiate soccer and tennis, something I would not have been able to do probably at a larger school.
Why PLP?
My dad encouraged me to apply as a “backup” option if other schools didn’t work out — funny to look back on now. Really it was the fact that it was a hands on program focused on leadership led by the college president that made it unique. No other college president was so involved in leadership programs that I had found. It seemed like an excellent reference to have later in life.
What is leadership?
Leadership is taking someone to a place they would or could not go alone. It is empowering others to reach their full potential that God has designed them for.
The need.
In the business world I see needs for integrity and a servant’s heart, character traits that are hard to come by. I see a need to put others first and be humble, looking out for others at the expense of yourself.
My role.
I seek to put aside my daily tasks for the needs of my co workers. I seek to be above reproach in the amount of time I work and the quality of my work. I do what I say I will do, and I over communicate if needed to clarify what I have committed to.
My dream job.
I hope to be in the center of God’s will for my life working in a job that meets a deep need in the world by using skills God has blessed me with and a devoted passion that I have. I want to know that my work is making eternity different and more souls enter Heaven. My dream job has been many things: pastor, speaker, sports camp director, CEO, etc.
My leadership.
Leaders create change and develop talent. They bring out the best in others. They make wise decisions and challenge those around them to grow. Leaders are the best for any organization and leadership is important in my career because it allows me to play a part in changing lives of others through the work that Jesus is doing. It is important because it will allow me to be confident and manage others well.
PLP at Tabor.
PLP has prepared me to be a leader through weekly classes with President Glanzer and the plentiful opportunities to lead ministries and groups around campus. If you have a passion for a certain area, then you have opportunity to lead at Tabor.
