Fred was raised in Pilsen, KS by parents Terry and Kathy Silhan. He graduated from Centre High School in 1998 and from Kansas State with a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 2003. He worked as a Production/Maintenance Supervisor for Cargill Dressings Sauces and Oils North America in Sidney, OH from 2003-2005. He then transitioned to a new position as Project Engineer/Manager for Cargill Meat Solutions in Schuyler Nebraska from 2005-2007. He then worked in Engineering, Maintenance, Production and since 2007 has served as the General Manager of the Hutchinson Kansas Facility for Morton Salt.

Come learn about the rich history of Morton Salt and Salt production in Kansas. We will learn about the process and products that are produced locally in the Hutchinson, Kansas plant. We will hear about the specifics of the products produced by Morton salt that we all know and love!
