Welcome back to Tabor College’s campus network!
Please refer to the following information as you connect or reconnect your devices to the wireless network when you arrive.
Tabor provides both wired and wireless connectivity. If you plan to use a network cable on any of your devices, you are responsible for supplying that RJ45 cable. The Jayshop will have a limited number of these cables to sell. If the RJ45 port in your room does not work, please let the IT Office know by sending an email that includes:
- Your name
- Dorm & room number
- Time of availability to log in or test your device
Send this information to networkhelp@tabor.edu and we will do our best to accommodate your request ASAP.
Laptops, Tablets, Phones
Please connect to the wifi network titled “Tabor” using your login information (username does not include “@tabor.edu“). Set up your BYOD account (see below) from a Device that is already on the Tabor network (ie. Laptop/phone) to add devices (ie. Tv, game console) to your BYOD account.
Windows Computers
Open your Wi-fi settings, click “Tabor,” and then “Connect”. Then, you should be able to enter your username and password. Lastly, click Connect again. If it says “cannot connect to this network,” please right-click the “Tabor” Wi-Fi and select “forget this network”. If this still doesn’t work, feel free to stop by the IT office in lower Lohrenz.
Macbook Computers
Once you try connecting, you will be asked to enter your username and password. Then, you will get a “verify certificate” pop-up. Please click the “Continue” button. Next, it will ask for your Macbook username and password (not your Tabor credentials).
Chromebooks
Once you try to connect, a pop-up will ask for your username/identity and password. Above that there is a section about the EAP method. Select PEAP in the dropdown menu. Below that there will be a box labeled “Server CA Certificate”. Select “Do not Check/Validate”. Have entered your username and password and all other boxes can be left alone. Once that is done, click Connect.
iPhones
Put in your username and password. Next, tap trust in the top right corner after entering your credentials. It will then attempt to connect. You will want to watch the top of your screen for the Wi-Fi icon because sometimes the Wi-Fi will act like it is still trying to connect when it has already connected. You should see a Wi-Fi icon next to the battery/time in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Androids
Once you try to connect, a pop-up will ask for your username/identity and password. Above that there is a section about the EAP method. Select PEAP in the dropdown menu. Below that there will be a box labeled “Server CA Certificate”. Select “Do not Check/Validate”. Make sure you have entered your username and password. All other boxes can be left alone. Once that is done, click Connect.
If you have a Google Pixel device, there may be other issues with connecting. Feel free to stop by the IT office in Lower Lohrenz if you need help.
All Other Devices (BYOD)
Devices such as game consoles, Alexa, Roku, TVs, and smart devices can be added by:
- From your computer or phone, open https://clearpass.tabor.edu/guest/auth_login.php
- Enter your Tabor login credentials, taking you to your device portal page.
- Click on “CREATE” to open the “Device Registration” form.
- Enter the appropriate information for the device you are trying to connect.
- Click the “Create Device” button at the bottom of the form.
- You should now receive an email and see your device listed as one of your “Managed Devices” with a password at the bottom of its information.
- This password is only valid for that specific device. You have to perform these steps for each device you want to connect.
- From the network connection screen for your device, connect to the “TaborBYOD” wifi network and enter the password you received for this device.
- Ultimately, some devices are created for home networks where there may only be 50 other devices in their connecting area. They can struggle on a network running 2,000-4,000 devices around Tabor’s campus.
- Please note, that if you’re a returning student, you must remove and sign up each device when returning to campus.
If you run into issues, please drop by our office in the basement of the Lohrenz Building. We will do our best to help you connect!
