Tabor Performs "With Praise & Thanksgiving"

With Praise and ThanksgivingHILLSBORO, Kan. – The Tabor College Music Department and Hillsboro Area Ministerial Association will host a fall concert entitled, “With Praise & Thanksgiving” at 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

The Tabor College Concert Choir, select group Chamber Voices and women’s choir Concerto Bella Voce will be performing.

Familiar favorites such as “His Eye Is On the Sparrow” and “For the Beauty of the Earth” will be combined with energetic songs of praise, and various small ensembles and soloists are featured within the choral works. Friends and neighbors who attend will be invited to participate in congregational singing.

“Our hope is that the community enjoys the festive evening of music as much as we enjoy performing,” said Brad Vogel, professor of music and director of choral activities at Tabor. “We’ve chosen pieces that showcase our student vocalists as well as invoke a sense of Thanksgiving as we head into the holidays.

An offering will be received for support of HAMA. Food donations are also welcome for Main Street Ministries Food Bank.

“We enjoy the opportunity to partner with the Hillsboro Area Ministerial Association in serving the community through this concert,” Vogel said. “Our event offers a unique way to give back at a critical time during the year.”

HAMA exists to coordinate ministries within Hillsboro area churches. One significant ministry is providing assistance to people in need with funds that are given to the Ministerial Association. The fund is used to help several hundred people each year – many local people with rent, food and utility bills, plus transients who need assistance getting down the road.
