HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College Theater will perform “Peter and The Starcatcher,” a Peter Pan prequel, in the Tabor College Chapel Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18 through the 21.
This play is a creative comedy that tells the story of how a boy became Peter Pan.
Based on the young adult novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, Tabor College students perform a play with music that tells the story of how a lonely orphan became the boy who can fly, with a makeshift family and an enchanted island to call home.
Laurel Koerner, director of theater at Tabor, has been hard at work since rehearsals have begun.
“The cast is having great fun with it,” Koerner said. “There’s plenty of room for creativity and infusing this with our own sense of humor.
“One of its charms is the ensemble nature of the cast. It’s a team effort, with no small roles.”
With 14 cast members and eight student crew members, a wide range of disciplines are represented in the casts and crews.
“The show is collaborative and creative and a lot of fun,” said Molly Wiebe Faber, who has a leading role in the production. “One object might turn into five different things, and everyone has a hand in helping tell the story, whether they have a line in that moment or not.
“I think that whether you’ve seen this show before or are just now hearing about it, you will be surprised and entertained by what you see.”
General admission is $12, non-Tabor students tickets are $8 and Wednesday night’s performance is half price. High school students receive free admission any night, when showing their school I.D.
