Tabor College Has 15 Team Earn NAIA Scholar Team Honors

2015-16 Womens Cross Country TeamLed by the Women’s Cross Country team with a 3.76 team grade point average, Tabor College landed 15 teams on the NAIA Scholar-Team honor roll for the 2015-16 academic year. Tabor and Kansas Wesleyan University led the KCAC in this category, while Tabor was the only KCAC school with teams in the top 40 overall – Women’s cross country (20th) and Women’s tennis (37th).

Vice President for Athletics, Rusty Allen, commented, “Part of the mission for the Tabor athletic department is to support classroom learning. We are determined to see our athletes successfully work toward a degree. To have 15 of our varsity teams achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and be recognized as NAIA Scholar Teams, is an accomplishment that speaks to the hard work of our coaches and athletes.”

Nationally, there were 1590 teams that earned the distinction of Scholar-Teams. For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team g.p.a. includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.

Women’s Basketball – 3.49
Women’s Indoor Track & Field – 3.45
Men’s Cross Country – 3.45
Women’s Swimming & Diving – 3.42
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – 3.42
Men’s Soccer – 3.33
Softball – 3.33
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – 3.26
Men’s Indoor Track & Field – 3.20
Men’s Basketball – 3.14
Men’s Swimming & Diving – 3.07
