Tabor alumni, community singers invited to join ‘Messiah’

The calendar may indicate early October, but preparation for the Tabor College “Messiah” performance is fast approaching.

The popular performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in Richert Auditorium. Guests and participants are invited to contribute to a food drive and an offering dedicated for the work of Hillsboro Area Ministerial Association.

Greg Zielke, professor of music and director of choirs at Tabor, is encouraging community singers and Tabor alumni to join the choir. The first rehearsal is planned for 7-9 p.m. Oct. 28. Additional rehearsals are scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 4, 11 and 18 in the Vogel Choral Room within the Shari Flaming Center for the Arts. Singers are also welcome to attend Concert Choir rehearsal any Friday in November from 12 noon until 12:50 in the Vogel Choral Room.

Dress rehearsal will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, in Richert Auditorium
“For alumni and community singers who have sung ‘Messiah’ recently, please plan to join us for the dress rehearsal,” Zielke said. To indicate interest in joining the choir, email Zielke at gregoryzielke@tabor.edu or contact him at tabor.edu/messiah.
