Steve Fast Kicks Off Lifelong Learning Sept. 1

steve fast lifelong learningHILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College kicks off the 2017-2018 Lifelong Learning sessions with a presentation from Hillsboro museum director, Steve Fast. The first session of the season will be on Friday, Sept. 1 at 9:45 a.m. at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church.

Fast is passionate about the things of the past that help us understand life then and now. As the director of the museums, he attempts to maintain high professional standards in caring for the collections on a limited budget. Fast will share a few items from the collections in Hillsboro to talk about why they are valuable or not during his talk, “Behind the Scenes at the Museum—Collecting, Preserving and Interpreting Hillsboro’s Treasures.”

In addition to sharing what has been collected in Hillsboro, Fast is interested in helping others scope out the treasures in their own homes.

“I’ll be sharing about the treasures our museum has acquired over the past century including a display of items and how we care for them,” said Fast. “We are always interested in the treasures people have in their homes.”

The public is welcome to attend all Lifelong Learning programs and may register at the door. Fees are $5 per session or $15 per semester ($29 per couple). Participants may enjoy lunch in the college cafeteria after the sessions at the discount price of $4. For more information or to review the full schedule of speakers, visit tabor.edu/lifelonglearning.
