Shin-hee Chin, professor of art and design at Tabor College, has received the “Best in Show” award for her quilt “Trees in late Autumn, 2020” by the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, N.Y. The recognition is a noteworthy honor given the 70-plus entries by more than 50 national and international fiber artists who competed in “Quilts=Art=Quilts 2020.”

“Quilts=Art=Quilts” is an annual juried quilt exhibition at Schweinfurth Art Center, a multi-arts organization that emphasizes fine arts, architecture and design, and encourages the work of emerging artists as well as promotes public participation in and appreciation of the arts.

Also, recently Australian textile artist Lisa Walton interviewed Chin about her innovative use of recycled materials and choice of themes in her quilting artwork. View the interview below.

“It is an honor to serve with these gifted colleagues like Shin-hee Chin,” said Frank Johnson, senior vice president of academics. “One of the elements that makes Tabor special is that students work directly with these scholars, learning more than facts, materials and techniques, but about life and giving oneself away to a higher calling.”
