Dr. Aleen Ratzlaff, professor of communications at Tabor College, will present the 24th annual Dr. Richard G. Kyle Faculty Lecture Tuesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. in the Franz Family Heritage Lobby of the Shari Flaming Center for the Arts.
Ratzlaff, now in her 23rd year at Tabor, has titled her presentation, “‘One Side of the Paper Only’: Out-of-Town Correspondents in the Black Press of the Plains during the 1920s.” The lecture is based on archival research Ratzlaff conducted in 2017 and focuses on black newspapers published in Kansas City, Oklahoma City, and Wichita.
The first lecture in the series was given in 1997 by Kyle himself. In 2004, the series was named in his honor. The event was founded to encourage scholarship and to recognize the work of a Tabor College faculty member.
The public is invited to the lecture.
