HILLSBORO, Kan. — Jeremy Ensey (fs’92) has been named director of the Central Kansas Entrepreneurship Center and an assistant professor of business administration at Tabor College. He currently serves as the chief executive officer of St. Luke Hospital and Living Center and co-owner of the Historic Elgin Hotel in Marion, Kan. His appointment will take effect on August 7.
“It is an honor to be a Bluejay once again, and I’m very thankful to President David Janzen and Dr. Frank Johnson for giving me this opportunity,” Ensey said. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to inspire, educate and mentor students with their entrepreneurial ideas. I look forward to helping steward the entrepreneurial vision for Tabor, Hillsboro, and all of Marion County.”
Ensey has spent 28 years in education and healthcare, including time as a registered nurse at Via Christi-Saint Francis and the Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kan. He became chief nursing officer at St. Luke in Oct. 2012 and was later named CEO in June 2014.
Under his leadership. St. Luke has increased gross revenue by 70 percent and completed a $1.5 million building project. The hospital also started 13 services and outreach programs over the last nine years.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jeremy to the Tabor faculty,” Janzen said. “His background in administration, entrepreneurship, and healthcare will be a tremendous resource for our students and as we seek to educate and equip current and future business owners on our campus and in the community.”
Ensey and his wife, Tammy, have owned and operated the Historic Elgin Hotel for seven years. They also opened Parlour 1886, a restaurant start-up, at the hotel in Feb. 2019.
