HILLSBORO, Kan. – Affordable Colleges Foundation has ranked Tabor College 31st overall on their list of the Best Online Christian Colleges 2014-2015.

ACF is a leading resource for online learning and college affordability information. The organization showcases schools that have clear and active Christian affiliations, plus proven excellence in online education.

“We are honored to be recognized as a college that provides a quality educational experience to students that need the convenience of an online delivery,” Jules Glanzer, president of Tabor College, said.

“The faith-based colleges on our list are making online learning a clear priority,” said Dan Schuessler, founder and CEO of Affordable Colleges Foundation. “Each of these Christian colleges incorporates innovative technologies to help students pursue their higher education, while providing a strong connection to spirituality.”

Tabor is the only Mennonite college to be recognized on the list and one of only two schools in Kansas.

“Tabor’s online programs are dedicated to providing an educational experience that is both academically excellent and thoroughly integrated with the Christian faith,” Brett Andrews, executive vice president of Tabor College in Wichita, said. “Additionally, we offer our students exceptional customer service and individualized attention.”

ACF’s data analysts and higher education experts developed a proprietary scoring system to rank these faith-based colleges using various cost, quality and student support metrics, including: number of online programs available, online tuition cost, student-faculty ratio, 6-year graduation rate, percentage of students receiving financial aid, academic/career counseling services and placement services for graduates.

Frank Johnson, vice president for academics, said the future for Tabor’s online curriculum is bright.

“Tabor is committed to a quality, affordable, Christ-centered education regardless of modality,” Johnson said. “Tabor is authorized to offer 100 percent of current programs online, a critical measure of recognition of our quality.”

ACF helps students and parents identify colleges, degree programs and scholarship opportunities that fit their respective academic and financial needs. The organization also spreads the importance of accreditation. Whether learning on campus or online, accreditation is a vital component of making sure a student receives a quality education that employers (and other colleges) will accept. With so many non-accredited institutions and degree programs out there, removing them from college search parameters is key.

“We want anyone, anywhere to have the opportunity to receive a quality education,” Glanzer added.

Tabor is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities —an association of global, nonprofit Christian colleges and universities offering baccalaureate programs in the arts/sciences, plus professional studies from a biblical worldview.
