Tabor College Concert Choir home concert April 12

Choir-200x200HILLSBORO, Kan. – Following 10 concerts in 10 days during its tour of western and central Kansas, the Tabor College Concert Choir is set to perform a home concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 12 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church located at 300 Prairie Pointe in Hillsboro.

The choir, under the direction of Brad Vogel, professor of choral music, will perform the concert with the theme “His Holy Presence.”

“The texts and sounds of the repertoire explore the various ways that God’s presence is communicated,” Vogel said, “from singing of how God meets us in our need, to how we communicate God’s presence when we serve and meet the needs of others.”

The Concert Choir’s repertoire for the program features a number of unique works, including: a work accompanied by sophomore harpist Heather Loewen and the premiere performance of Vogel’s own composition, Bread and Wine, featuring senior Krista Neifert on piano and senior Natalie Wiens on cello.  The text for this work was commissioned for the choir from Mennonite poet Jean Janzen.
