Tabor’s “Messiah” Broadcast throughout Kansas

Tabor College MessiahHILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College Oratorio and Alumni Chorus’ performance of Handel’s “Messiah” will be broadcast on several local channels throughout the state.

Eagle Communications will show the program in the Hillsboro and central Kansas area on channel 2 several times on Dec. 23 and 24. The performance will air on Dec. 23 at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., and 4 p.m. On Sunday, it will be replayed at 7 p.m.

In southwestern Kansas KDGL TV will show the performance at noon on Sunday, Dec. 24 and at 1 p.m. on Christmas Day. KDGL covers Garden City, Dodge City, Liberal, Ulysses and Sublette communities.

Wichita based Great Plains TV plans to air video from Tabor’s performance at 1:30 on Dec. 24 on Retro TV, channel 30.1 and on AT&T U-verse channel 51.

Tabor originally performed Handel’s “Messiah” on Dec. 10 as the first public performance in the new Shari Flaming Center for the Arts. The facility had been dedicated the day prior. More than 150 current students and alumni participated in the annual event along with a community orchestra.

The earliest performances of Handel’s “Messiah” by Tabor College can be traced back to Herbert C. Richert, a beloved music professor and namesake for the Richert Auditorium on campus.
