Tabor Music Majors to Perform Junior Recital April 26

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Faith Tonne, Michael Beye and Kristen Neufeld will perform a junior recital on April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabor Chapel. The performance is a collaborative student project led by the music majors who will each be showcased during the event.

“Junior recitals provide experience for students to understand the work and planning that goes into their capstone requirement during their final year,” says music department chair Dr. Brad Vogel.

The recital will feature pieces from well-known composers including G.F. Handel, Vincenzo Bellini, Carl Neilsen, Enrique Granados, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Paul Dukas and Michael Head.

“I love the Vaughan Williams set of songs that I’m performing,” said Beye. “Songs of Travel with text by Robert Louis Stevenson tells a story of a young traveler trying to make is own way in the world and discovers the beauty of the world while finding where he belongs.”

Tonne, a soprano from Ashland and Beye, a tenor from Inman study vocal performance with music professor Dr. Holly Swartzendruber. Neufeld, a horn player from Greenwood, S.C., studies with Jordan Robert. “Tabor music majors work very hard throughout their tenure to constantly improve,” said Swartzendruber. “Recitals are an opportunity to showcase their learning and growth over time.”

Other Tabor musicians will provide instrumental support to the performance. Zach Neumann and Maryn Robson will accompany on piano. Howard Glanton will provide guitar accompaniment.
