HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor and Bethel colleges welcome students and friends on the next trip to the Holy Land Jan. 2-22, 2019.
Tabor Bible professor Douglas Miller and Bethel’s campus pastor Peter Goerzen will lead the group through Israel, Palestine and Jordan to enhance the understanding of the Bible in its historic and geographic contexts, along with worship and reflection.
“This trip has been a rich experience for me personally as well as for students and others who have participated,” Miller said. “The sites we visit are directly connected to stories in the Bible, and we take opportunity to worship and reflect on what we are seeing and experiencing. We also explore and listen to a variety of local people who speak to the religious and political challenges in the region.”
Locations planned to visit include Petra, Church of the Nativity, the Israel Museum, the Dead Sea, Jerusalem and many more.
Members of the group will have the opportunity to meet with the local people and free time to explore locations of their choosing.
“This trip radically flipped my world upside down in such a positive way,” said Beth Nesser, a 2015 group member. “Exploring biblical and historical sites will forever change the way that I read the Bible. Being able to encounter people from several different cultures has impacted how I view and interact with the people in the world around me.”
Participants will include a mixed group of college and seminary students, pastors, spouses and others. Students have priority.
The cost of the trip is approximately $4,600 per person, including travel, tips, lodging and nearly all meals. A deposit of $500 must be made no later than Sept. 1 to confirm a reservation.
