HILLSBORO, Kan. – Mark Fox is joining the coaching staff at Tabor College as the assistant men’s basketball coach and sports information director.
Fox has nearly 30 years of experience in coaching, recruiting and teaching. He comes to Tabor from Bethel College where he served as the head women’s basketball coach for 11 years. While at Bethel, Fox tied the school record for number of victories twice, produced three NAIA All-Americans and served on the WBCA National All-American selection committee.
I have known Coach Fox for a long time. We are excited to have him join the Tabor athletic department,” Rusty Allen vice president of enrollment and athletics said. “He is a man who loves Jesus and lives his faith in ways that positively influence those around him. He is also a very talented professional.”
Head Coach Micah Ratzlaff agrees.
“Coach Fox stands out as a competitive coach who wants the best for the team and the athletes he serves,” Ratzlaff said. “His years of experience and commitment to students are remarkable and I look forward to the insight he brings to the program.”
Fox hopes that he will broaden his experiences in the role.
“Coaching at a top program like Tabor is an exciting opportunity,” Fox said. “I look forward to becoming a student again to see how Coach Ratzlaff and the team work together.”
Prior to his tenure at Bethel, Fox worked as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Newman University in Wichita. During his time at the NCAA Division II school, the team made two national tournament appearances and were ranked in the top 20 nationally three times.
Fox will take on a new challenge as the sports information director in addition to his coaching and teaching responsibilities.
“Coaches are always promoting team achievements, but as SID I will have the opportunity to learn another integral part of running an athletics department.
“I hope my enthusiasm for promoting Tabor athletics and student athletes helps elevate what is already an outstanding program,” Fox said.
Fox has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree in supervision and curriculum from Emporia State University.
