Tabor College receives $1.3 million challenge grant from Mabee Foundation

Business & Entrepreneurship Center revised renderings

Fundraising for the renovation of the former Mary J. Regier Building, and future home of business and entrepreneurship, reached a significant milestone with the announcement of a $1.3 million challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation. Tabor College must raise an additional $1,383,972 by Jan. 14, 2026, to receive the money.

Tabor seeks to raise $11 million for the Business & Entrepreneurship Center. With $6.7 million already given toward the renovation, the challenge grant aids momentum toward adding to and renovating one of Tabor’s two most historic facilities. The building and the H.W. Lohrenz Administration Building both opened in April 1920. Details of the facility additions and renovations will be released at a later date.

“This challenge grant results from the incredible partnership of Tabor College and the Mabee Foundation,” said President David Janzen, Ph.D. “We’re deeply grateful for the donors who have already supported our vision and look forward to speaking with those who will help us reach this goal. We’re thrilled to move closer to the construction of this project, eagerly anticipating what God will offer our campus with this space.”

The challenge grant now represents the eighth Tabor has received from the Mabee Foundation. Other projects include the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center (1989), Campus Recreation Center (1992), Solomon L. Loewen Natural Science Center (1997), Townhouse Residence Halls (2006), Shari Flaming Center for the Arts (2017), and Jost Hall (2023).

“In God’s faithfulness, donors are showing tremendous support for what a facility like this can provide,” said Ron Braun, vice president of philanthropy. “We look forward to meeting this grant and completing fundraising over the coming months.”
