Tabor College Presents Mary Brown-Bonacci Recital

Brown-Bonacci Recital Mar 3HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor Arts will host Mary Brown-Bonacci for a guest recital on Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel on campus. The event will be the fourth in the Tabor College Recital Series as an effort to bring artists to campus for student and community audiences. The public is welcome to attend this free event.

“Mary has an incredible voice and we are thrilled to have her on campus to share her talent with our students and the broader community,” said Jen Stephenson assistant professor of music and director of vocal studies.

The mezzo-soprano is an active artist in Southern New England, Boston and New York. She has performed with Opera Company Brooklyn, Salt Marsh Opera and Lyric Opera of Kansas City in roles such as Carmen, Mother Goose and Buttercup in HMS Pinafore.

Brown-Bonacci has appeared in New York with the EnCanta Collective and with the National Broadway Chorus. In Massachusetts she has been part of Revolutionary Voices in Boston, Pioneer Valley Symphony and Hampshire Choral Society.

Tabor Arts started the recital series as an opportunity to give students a first-hand perspective on careers in music. Bringing in excellent performers not only inspires students to continue their work, but also creates new connections in the industry. Brown-Bonacci will offer a new perspective to those considering a career in vocal performance.

Student education is only part of the goal of the recital series. Another goal of the program is to increase opportunities for Tabor alumni and residents from Hillsboro and neighboring communities to experience new musical talent.

“Our hope is that the community will also embrace the recital series and it will become a new tradition at Tabor College,” Vogel said. “Our alumni, churches and communities have a deep appreciation for music and the new series creates another opportunity to be inspired together.”
