Tabor College Presents Amy Prickett in Recital Series

Amy Prickett Oct. 28HILLSBORO, Kan. – The latest installment of the Tabor College Recital Series comes from soprano Amy Prickett on Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. The recital is open to the public free of charge.

“Amy Prickett is a world-class performer and I’m so excited that we were able to bring her to Tabor to interact with our students and present a recital within our community,” Jen Stephenson assistant professor of music and director of voal studies said. “We can all learn so much from watching her perform; it’s going to be a great recital!”

Pricket has performed as a guest artist with the Arkansas Philharmonic, Grand Rapids Symphony, Fort Wayne Philharmonic and many others. Her solo performances include Brahms’ “Requiem,” Handel’s “Messiah” and Orff’s “Carmina Burana.” She has also taken on operatic roles such as Anna Maurrant in Street Scene, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Dido in Dido and Aeneas.

Prickett holds a bachelor of music degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and a master of music in voice performance from Michigan State University in East Lansing. She has been on faculty at Weatherford College, Huntington University and Indiana University-Purdue Fort Wayne. Prickett is currently pursuing a doctor of musical arts degree at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

The recital series plays an important role in student education at Tabor College. Bringing in excellent performers not only inspires students to continue their work, but also demonstrates how they have applied education to their careers. Prickett’s performance will be the second in the series.

Brad Vogel director of Tabor’s music department has even higher hopes for the performances.

“Our hope is that the community will also embrace the recital series and it will become a new tradition at Tabor College,” Vogel said. “Tabor alumni, Hillsboro and the surrounding communities have a deep appreciation for music and the new series creates another opportunity to be inspired together.”
