Tabor Advancement retooling for financial growth

Tabor College is broadening its Advancement Department with a goal to give increased attention to fundraising and endowed scholarships, according to President Jules Glanzer.

The department will be led by two vice presidents, one to coordinate fundraising efforts on the college’s behalf, and one to administer support services that will enhance relationships with the Tabor constituency.

Ron Braun, with nine years of experience at Tabor, will coordinate fundraising efforts in his role as vice president of Philanthropy.

Dr. Tom Shaw, a veteran of 35 years in Christian higher education, has been appointed vice president of Advancement. He will participate in fundraising and provide administrative oversight in the areas of alumni, communications, Lifelong Learning and the Advancement team.

For the past three years, Shaw served as vice president and dean of Tabor College Wichita, and assisted President Glanzer with strategic initiatives.

“Exploring creative ways to communicate the exciting things that are just around the corner at Tabor is a passion of mine,” Shaw said. “The bonus is that I get to be a part of a team of talented and devoted employees in the Advancement Department.”

Braun noted: “Working with Tom Shaw will open new doors of opportunity with donors as we engage in fundraising for the new and expanding programs being implemented here. Tabor appreciates each donor. By adding Tom to our staff, we will be able to express appreciation in more effective ways while increasing the support of our school.”
