“…and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”-- Isaiah 61:3 (NIV)

In a world where:

… Individuality is an idol
… Selfish and complacent living are expectations
… Community is rejected rather than sought after

I loved the idea of attending a small Christian school. I also dreamt of playing basketball in college, so when Tabor began recruiting me, it seemed like the perfect fit.

I needed:

… People who were passionately seeking Jesus
… An international perspective

I remember seeing my close friends say yes to things like TREK (MB Missions 10-month long discipleship program) and oversee missions to India over Interterm. Seeing the transformation in their hearts and lives made me hungry for more. Through their obedience, God also put a desire in my heart to see what He was doing globally.

Tabor provided:

… Friends, professors, coaches, and mentors along my journey
… Connections and courage to explore the call to missions

I entered Tabor with a Katie-sized plan and left knowing and believing that God had so much more for me and that walking in His love and dreams for my life is far better than anything I could have planned. Five years after graduating from Tabor, I began an adventure I never dreamed would be possible. It isn’t without the faithfulness of our King, the support of my family, and the incredible community of friends from Tabor that I am in Thailand.
