In high school I was a somewhat shy kid socially. I excelled in music, but didn’t feel the confidence in everyday settings where I didn’t have music to set me apart.
I needed:
Direction…that next step…confidence…
I originally chose Tabor because of it’s familiarity (through my church and my parents, who are alumni). But I had no idea the kind of friends and mentors that would come into my life through this decision.
Tabor provided:
Community…Challenge…Security…
I entered college with a handful of friends from my church. What I gained at Tabor was a tremendous community of friends among students and mentors among faculty. I was challenged in my music studies by a strong music faculty and I always felt the security to ask questions and come to my professors anytime.Yes, I did recitals, toured with a summer music group, studied for exams, and received a good liberal arts education. But beyond that, the community of Tabor College grew me into a more socially confident individual: feeling supported, armed with knowledge, and ready to be a leader.
