HILLSBORO, Kan. – The second annual Project SEARCH signing event will take place Tuesday, March 13. During this event, five interns for the 2018-19 academic year will sign a contract to participate in the program.
This event is the first chance to meet the new interns as they prepare themselves for a new learning and working experience at Tabor.
“This event is the culmination of all the hard work the Project SEARCH staff has put into the recruitment of prospective interns,” said Robert Haude, chair of the Project SEARCH advisory committee. “I look forward to seeing these young adults make a commitment to this life changing program. I think we have future community leaders represented in next year’s cohort of interns.”
The program is nearing a successful end to its first year at Tabor College.
As of January 2017, Tabor College has taken on the role as the official Project SEARCH site in Marion County. The first three interns joined Tabor in work roles last August.
Project SEARCH is a partnership between Tabor College and Marion County Special Education Cooperative. The two organizations participate on the advisory committee that meets on campus monthly and includes area experts in special education and job placement.
First launched in 1996 in Cincinnati, Project SEARCH has grown to more than 300 work sites across the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia. Kansas has been hosting sites for seven years and Tabor College is the 13th location added in the state.
