Lifelong Learning Learns About Opera

Jane Rhoads Lifelong LearningHILLSBORO, Kan. – Lifelong Learning at Tabor College will continue this year’s schedule on 9:45 a.m., Friday April 20 in the Heritage Lobby of the Shari Flaming Center for the Arts.

This week’s speaker will be author and the 2009 Notable Kansas Book award winner, Jane Rhoads.

Rhoads’ presentation will show how opera houses played a significant role in early frontier Kansas communities.

Operas were a great opportunity for European and Eastern U.S. settlers to express their different cultural ideas and establish them into these new societies.

The public is welcome to attend all Lifelong Learning sessions and can register at the door for $5. Attendees may enjoy lunch in the Tabor College cafeteria after the session at the discounted price of $4.
