Congressional Internship with Congressman Jake LaTurner

Semester Sessions:

All internships are full time and located in Washington, D.C. in-person.

Internships are split into semester sessions:

  • Spring: January – May
  • Summer I: May – July
  • Summer II: June – August
  • Fall: August – December

Start/End Dates are flexible and working hours can be adjusted on a case-by-case basis. All interns receive a monthly stipend, dependent on hours worked weekly.

Interns will be tasked to:

Assist with Staff Assistant duties, sort and log constituent mail, answer the phone and assist constituents, give Capitol tours, assist with legislative projects, research legislation, draft legislative memos and assist with communications, draft social media posts, and copy edit committee remarks and floor speeches.

Opportunities: 

Each intern cycle, every effort will be made to provide Congressman LaTurner’s interns with a well-rounded DC experience. This includes:

  • A meal in the Member’s Dining Room with Congressman LaTurner.
  • Shadow each staff member to gain exposure to each role in the office and their functions.
  • Opportunities to observe the House floor from the Gallery.
  • Capstone project presentation to Congressman, Chief of Staff, and Legislative Director.
  • Participate in seminars and lectures.
