HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College’s music department will host a night of jazz music at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, in the atrium of the new Shari Flaming Center for the Arts.
Students and faculty will collaborate to present “Broadway Cabaret,” with students performing songs from the genres of Broadway, jazz and musical-theater. The evening also will feature Tabor’s student-led a cappella choir, the Tabor FX.
“The Tabor College Jazz Combo is excited to be a part of this event,” said Shawn Knopp, director of bands at Tabor. “We are looking forward to performing in this laid-back, casual atmosphere, where the audience can grab a cup of coffee and enjoy some great jazz.”
Accompanying the students will be members of the Tabor College music faculty.
“A great thing about Tabor’s music program is that we equip our music students with the tools to succeed in a variety of musical environments, from the recital hall to the coffee house to the opera stage,” said Jen Stephenson, director of vocal studies at Tabor. “We’re really looking forward to this fun and light-hearted event, and to hearing the students share their abilities with their fellow students and the Hillsboro community.”
Adrienne’s, Tabor’s coffee shop, will be open for this event. Admission is free to all guests.
