Graduation Rescheduled for October

Commencement is a milestone in Tabor’s annual calendar and a time for students and their families to celebrate a major accomplishment. Unfortunately, the global health situation has necessitated postponing the event, originally scheduled for May 23. Degrees will still be officially conferred in May so students who need transcripts for graduate school or employment will be able to receive them.

“It is important that seniors, who have had the normal May graduation memories taken away from them through no fault of their own, have an opportunity to enjoy the rituals and ceremonial aspect of commencement,” said President Jules Glanzer.

The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11, coinciding with homecoming weekend festivities. The commencement ceremony will be at 10 a.m. in the Joel H. Wiens Stadium.

“We remain committed to offering a commencement experience that is equal to what we would have done in May,” said Frank Johnson, academic dean. “It will be a time set aside to honor our graduates with the same significance and celebration we otherwise would have expected.”

Graduating seniors and their families will also be invited to a president’s party on the campus green following commencement.

“Friends and family can gather for the entire weekend on campus and enjoy the event amongst friends,” Glanzer said.
