What is #GivingTuesday? It’s the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, this year that’s Nov. 29, set aside to remember that not everyone is as fortunate as us, not everyone has enjoyed the feast and the shopping and maybe we need to take time to give back in some small way.
So why is Tabor involved? Isn’t that just an extra financial burden? Tabor is using #GivingTuesday to talk about an important change in the Tabor Fund. This year when you receive your end of year letter asking for a donation, you’ll see a major change. Instead of using the Tabor Fund to pay for new light bulbs and other operational things, we’ve changed our focus. The Tabor Fund now goes directly to student scholarships and financial aid. Through our first effort on #GivingTuesday we’re hoping to raise $250,000.
Why the change? We’re committed to the mission of Tabor to prepare people for a life of learning, work and service for Christ and His kingdom. What better way to do that than to make it easier for students to attend Tabor to receive a quality education with a Christ-centered focus.
Now you’re wondering, what can I do? Great question! You can contribute to the Tabor Fund. Our online form and Tabor app are set up to help make this easy and quick. And when you do, post a picture of you or your family with a sign that says “#BEUNSelfie Give Back to the Tabor Fund on #GivingTuesday!” on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. We’ll be tracking these and reposting them throughout the day.
