HILLSBORO, Kan.— Tabor College has named David Ediger as its new associate vice president for student life, learning, and formation. He currently serves as associate director of athletic communications for the Tabor Athletic Department.
His appointment will take effect on July 1, 2022.
“I would like to thank President David Janzen, Executive Vice President of Operations Rusty Allen, and the search committee for selecting me to fill this role on campus,” Ediger said. “I am extremely humbled and excited about the opportunity to work closely in the lives of our students.”
Ediger, a 1995 graduate of Tabor College in physical education, served as sports information director for one year before entering his current role in July 2019. Prior to moving to Hillsboro, he spent 15 years as athletic director, assistant principal, and head girls’ basketball coach at Cimarron High School in Cimarron, Kan. That followed two years of coaching and teaching at Ashland High School in Ashland, Kan., as well as at Meade High School in Meade, Kan.
Ediger’s extensive background in secondary education includes honors of KIAAA Athletic Director of the Year, KASSP Area VI Assistant Principal of the Year, and SW KMEA Outstanding Administrator. He also once served on the KSHSAA board of directors and was selected by the KSHSAA to serve on a special committee for classification of the state’s member schools.
This is Ediger’s second stint at Tabor, coaching men’s basketball and tennis after graduating. He was on the coaching staff for the men’s basketball Final Four run in 1997.
“David brings a heart for the students and significant experience as a leader in education,” Allen said. “His understanding of Tabor College, as well as his commitment to partnering with Jesus to prepare people for lives of Christian work and service, will be invaluable on our campus. I am excited, to say the least, that David has accepted our offer.”
Ediger is native of Meade, Kan. He and his wife Michelle (Penner, g’94) have three daughters, Morgan (Ediger, g’19) Swedorski, Madison (Ediger, cs) Weaver, and Mallory (cs).
