Sherri Coale, the winningest coach in Oklahoma women’s basketball history and a two-time finalist for Naismith Coach of the Year, will speak in Chapel on Monday, Feb. 3. The public is invited to attend. Her address, “God Equips the Called,” will be followed by meetings with student groups and teams throughout the day. This talk is provided by the Gil & Rhoda Friesen Lecture Series.

At the heart of Coale’s career is a devout faith in Jesus Christ, which has provided the foundation for a Hall of Fame coaching career and as a gifted speaker and writer. In 2022, she published her first book, “Rooted to Rise.” Her next book, “The Compost File,” is coming in late February.

Coale is a four-time Big 12 Coach of the Year (2000, 2001, 2006, 2009), leading the Sooners to 19 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. The program also reached three Final Fours (2002, 2009, 2010). She currently sits on the Kay Yow Cancer Fund Board of Directors and previously served as president of the organization.
