Interterm Adjustments, Struggles, and Adventures

Interterm sure is a weird phase. Everyone has class at the exact same time for three hours each morning, it’s far below freezing outside, and nearly every afternoon and evening is left free to fill with whatever homework or Netflix series you’d like. I have a sort of love-hate relationship with Interterm. There are so many positives and negatives to weigh.

Adjusting to a single class 8:30-11:30AM every day has been a little rough. It almost takes me back to high school by having a routine that continues every day rather than having a block schedule, and I’m not certain that I’m a fan. I have eighteen people in my class, and I think it’s safe to say that all of us get very antsy sitting in the same position for so long listening to the same teacher. My homework is also not the most fun. With an entire class crammed into a month, the workload is quite a lot, but I’ve learned to manage my time better as it’s gone on.

The best thing, in my opinion, is the abundance of time to fill with anything. Interterm has given me a lot of time to be with my friends and make new memories. For instance, we’ve been able to make some late-night runs to Druber’s donut shop, Applebee’s half-priced appetizers, sushi and Coldstone ice cream in Wichita, and even to the YMCA in Newton to swim. The number of movies watched has also increased quite dramatically! No matter what we do, I always enjoy being with my friends, and we have certainly had the time to be together thanks to Interterm!

Now there’s one week left, and the spring semester is in my sights. I’m sure when Interterm comes to a close, I’ll be left saying, “Where did the time go???” Nevertheless, I as well as every other student am bundling up every day to face the bitter cold, looking for the best in each moment I have here at Tabor.
