Tabor College ranked in Top 50 by U.S. News & World Report

 

HILLSBORO, Kan. – U.S. News & World Report has ranked Tabor College 41st overall in its 2016 Regional Colleges Midwest Rankings list. A year ago, Tabor was ranked 49th on the same list and has been ranked by the organization since 2003. U.S. News ranks over 1,600 schools for best quality and best value. It has been ranking undergraduate colleges since 1988 and graduate schools since 1994.

U.S. News uses indicators to capture academic quality that fall into a number of categories including: assessment by administrators at peer institutions, retention of students, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving, graduation rate performance and high school counselor ratings of colleges.

The indicators include input measures that reflect a school’s student body, its faculty and its financial resources, along with outcome measures that signal how well the institution does its job of educating students.

Tabor’s academic accolades for the 2014-2015 school year include:

  • Students from 35 states and nine international countries
  • 42 percent of Tabor students (Hillsboro campus only) received Pell Grants
  • 29 NAIA Academic All-Americans, 71 KCAC Academic All-Conference athletes
  • The 105th commencement honored a 171 graduates: 107 from the Hillsboro campus, which was the 4th largest graduating class in school history; 64 from the Wichita campus, 60 undergraduate and four graduate students who earned master’s degrees, which was the 2nd largest graduating class

Tabor is committed to helping students achieve success in the classroom, athletics, performing arts and service projects. Tabor has several on-campus programs that help students become more involved with each other and surrounding communities:

  • Tabor provides educational opportunities in Europe, Bolivia, India, Belize, Peru, Asia and the Dominican Republic, broadening students’ worldviews.
  • All incoming freshman complete a service project their first day on campus.
  • Ministry Quest’s influence continues to shape lives. The high school discipleship program is designed to help students discern God’s call and develop their leadership potential.
  • Campus Ministries Council provides ministry and service opportunities for students including the following: Challenging, Helping and Understanding through MentorShip (CHUMS), a program matching Tabor students with local elementary school students to meet with them mentor and tutor; Wichita Urban Ministry Plunge (WUMP); and Share, Prayer & Dare (SPD), which fills the Historic Church on campus every Wednesday night.
