Thanksgiving Concert Nov. 22

With Praise and Thanksgiving Concert, Sunday November 22, 2015

HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Tabor College Music Department and Hillsboro Area Ministerial Association will present a festive concert entitled, “With Praise & Thanksgiving” at 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. The concert is free and open to the public.

“We enjoy the opportunity to partner with the Hillsboro Area Ministerial Association in serving the community through this concert,” said Brad Vogel, professor of choral music and conductor of both the Concert Choir and Chamber Voices. “Good art should always enrich and this partnership has the potential to enrich both spirit and body.”

In addition to the Concert Choir and women’s choir Concerto Bella Voce, the newly formed Chamber Voices will make their debut performance. Also making a debut performance is Jen Stephenson, assistant professor of choral music, who will be conducting Concerto Bella Voce.

The concert will feature Sheila Litke, professor of piano and piano pedagogy, as piano soloist. Joining Litke at the piano for the concluding song will be J. Bradley Baker, director of the Tabor College Preparatory School. The two will perform as duo accompanists for Mack Wilberg’s lively setting of “Bound for the Promised Land.” Congregational songs are also part of the event.

The Hillsboro Area Ministerial Association exists to coordinate ministries within Hillsboro area churches. One significant ministry is providing assistance for people in need with funds that are given to the Ministerial Association. The funds are used to help several hundred local and transient people each year with rent, food and utility bills.

An offering will be received for support of Hillsboro Area Ministerial Association. Food donations can be brought to the concert for the Main Street Ministries Food Bank.
