Tabor College hires Brian Grime as new Cross Country Coach

CC-coach-webHILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College has hired Brian Grime as the new men’s and women’s head cross country coach and assistant track coach. He will begin July 2015.

Tabor College Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Rusty Allen, says Grime has the qualifications and characteristics that make him the right fit for this position. 

“Coach Grime brings youth, expertise, enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, great relational skills and a desire to influence young men and women in their relationships with Christ,” Allen said. “We are looking forward to his leadership and believe he will contribute significantly to the excellence of the Tabor athletic department.”

Grime says he is ready for the next challenge in his coaching career at a Christian college.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to coach cross country and track at Tabor College,” Grime says. “Tabor has a lot to offer and I believe through their Christ-centered approach, a program can be built here that will last.

“I am fortunate to join a staff that is dedicated to improving the lives of student-athletes and excited to provide my own contribution.”

Grime comes to Tabor after spending the past two years at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio working as the assistant cross country and track and field coach. Grime was actively involved in all aspects of the program including: recruiting, working with alumni, fundraising, designing/implementing weight lifting programs for distance runners, practice planning, workouts and monitoring team academics. 

Grime is a native of Tiffin, Ohio and graduated from Tiffin University  in 2012 with a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice with a concentration in forensic psychology. While at Tiffin, Grime competed all four years on the Dragons track and field and cross country teams including, the school’s first ever nationally ranked cross country team.

Grime is currently finishing up his masters of science degree in criminal justice: Homeland Security Administration from Tiffin University.

Grime comes to Tabor with a several accomplishments during his short coaching career, including: 

  • USATF Level 1 Certified Coached 62 NAIA All-Americans in track and cross country
  • 5 National Qualifiers, 3 All-Americans
  • 1 National Runner Up (3k Steeplechase)
  • 5 All-Ohioans
  • 1 Women’s Team Academic All-American
  • 5 Individual Conference Champions
  • 1 All-Ohio Freshman of the Year
