Scams Targeting Seniors Topic at Lifelong Learning Oct. 16

 

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Sgt. Scott Plummer from the Sedgwick County Community Liaison Unit will be the speaker at Lifelong Learning 9:45 a.m., Friday, Oct. 16 in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center on campus in Hillsboro.

His session entitled, “Are you the next victim? How to protect yourself against fraud and scams that target the older generation,” will be educational and informative.

“Scams and frauds—especially those that target seniors—are a growing issue in our world,” Director of Lifelong Learning Miriam Kliewer said. “These are issues that can be devastating to a person and we need to learn to be more cautious and much more aware.”

Sgt. Plummer has 18 years of experience in corrections, patrol, investigations and narcotics. He brings a wealth of experience on the subject of home safety, scams and fraud targeting seniors.

The public is welcome to attend all Lifelong Learning sessions and may register at the door for $5. Attendees may enjoy lunch in the Tabor College cafeteria after the session at the discounted price of $4.
