“I’m excited to tell the story about the school teacher my father introduced to the most remote area of Alaska,” Penner said, “and how in 1960 she accepted the challenge to live in a sod house, among people who relied on caribou for their existence and where sled dogs outnumbered the 96 Native people. She changed Alaskan history. I never get over my astonishment at her service, which turned into such an adventure.”

Penner’s books will be available for sale.

The public is welcome to attend all Lifelong Learning programs and may register at the door. Fees are $5 per session, $15 per semester or $29 per couple. Attendees may enjoy lunch in the Tabor College cafeteria after the sessions at the discounted price of $4.
