Local Nurse Leaders Elected to International Honor Society

WICHITA, Kan. – Several nursing students at Tabor College in Wichita elected for membership in the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, as nurse leaders through Epsilon Gamma-at-Large Chapter on Nov. 15.

The following Tabor College students were elected to membership: Suzanne Garcia, Mary Joyce, Janine Kisner, Nadine Larcher, Krystal Mitchell, Johanna Ramzah, Charlene Rippstein and Jayci Wyant.

STTI is one of the largest international nursing organizations and works to foster, develop and connect nurse scholars and leaders worldwide to improve health care. The honor society promotes nursing excellence through its initiatives in research, leadership, an electronic library, programming and publications.

It also develops and distributes nursing knowledge for use in practice. Membership in STTI is by invitation to nurse professionals who have demonstrated achievement in nursing, hold a minimum of a baccalaureate degree and are a registered nurse.

“Sigma Theta Tau is about recognizing the value of scholarship and excellence in nursing practice,” said Chair of the Nursing Program at Tabor College Marlene Pietrocola. “The students who received an invitation from Tabor College have consistently demonstrated excellence in their academic work.

“I expect no less from them as they apply what they have learned to their practice as a baccalaureate prepared registered nurse,” she added.
