Jason Reiswig (g’09)
Alumni Medallion Award Winner
Founder & President of Missions in the Amazon

After graduation from Tabor in June of 2009 with a Biochemistry degree. Jason and his wife Chelsea set off on an adventure that would change their lives forever. The plan was for Jason to start his medical career following a 3-month mission trip into the jungles of Peru. They were searching for a global experience where they could use their passions and gifts on an affordable budget. They could have never prepared for what God was about to do! As the trip was coming to a close, Jason felt God calling him to become a catalyst for people around the world looking for the same thing he had experienced in the jungles of Peru and in September 2009 founded Missions in the Amazon.

Fast forwarding to today, they have seen God shift Missions in the Amazon from being a glorified travel agency to an organization that is committed to bringing sustainable ministry to every village throughout the Amazon Jungle. Within a couple years, God revealed to Jason that medicine was purely the means to connect him with ministry, and devoted to full-time ministry in September 2011. Missions in the Amazon is now working in 56 villages throughout the Amazon jungle and are in constant pursuit of self-sustainable ministry models and continue to partner with people around the word that have similar interests and passions.

Jason travels regularly to the jungle and also helps with the development of several nonprofit organizations in the Kansas City area. While stateside, Jason and Chelsea reside in Kansas City with their two sons Maddox and Brecken.
