Butler County Community College sophomore Christian Addison has signed a letter of intent to run cross country and track for Tabor during the 2008-2009 school year. She plans to major in Health and Physical Education.

Christina is a 2006 graduate of Valley Center High School. She is a highly competitive runner with experience at the Kansas state meets and the National Junior College meets in both cross country and track.

According to Track and Field Coach Dave Kroeker, “Christina will make an immediate positive contribution on the Tabor Women’s Track and Field Team in a number of races. I recruited her when she was at Valley Center High School and am even more excited about her as she comes out of a fine program under Coach Hunter at Butler County CC. She is a fine, Christian young lady who I am truly excited to have on our team.”

“Christina is a good fit for Tabor and for the cross country program. She will have am immediate impact on the women’s team in 2008. Her experience will be a valuable asset,” said Cross Country Coach Karol Hunt.

NAIA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hosted by University of Wisconsin, Parkside, Kenosha

Saturday, November 17, 2007

(5K, 268 Finishers)

Liz Kleinsasser 240th 20:52

Coach’s Recap:

  • “It was a tough racing day for Liz. An ankle injury hampered her ability to attack the hills. She was really disappointed about that.”
  • “As a freshman, it was a major accomplishment for Liz to qualify for Nationals. Just being a part of the atmosphere and running with the best in the NAIA was a vital learning experience for her. As a coach, my words can only go so far in preparing a runner for the initial Nationals race. Now that Liz has that experience, she can build on it for next year. Adversity can bring out the best, and Liz will be that much better prepared mentally for her next race at Nationals.”

REGION IV CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP Hosted by College of St. Mary, Omaha Saturday, November 3, 2007

Coach’s Recap:

  • Tabor competed at the NAIA Region IV meet on Saturday at Lakeview Golf Course in Omaha. The women placed fourth out of 14 teams and the men placed sixth out of 12.
  • Freshman Liz Kleinsasser qualified for the NAIA national meet with her 11th place finish in a time of 19:32. Liz and senior Heidi Schmidt (14th; 19:39) earned All-Region honors. Heidi received the honor for the second straight season.
  • Junior Zac Remboldt finished 13th to lead the men in a personal record time of 27:31. Zac also was named to the All-Region team.
  • “We had a good day of racing. Qualifying for nationals is a great honor. Having three runners receive regional recognition is also positive for our cross country program.”
  • Senior Amber Wiens (30th; 20:37) finished in the third spot for the women followed by Jera Teselle (34th; 20:46) in fourth and senior Ashley Schmidt (43rd; 21:21) in fifth.
  • Other performances for the women were Carrie Schroeder (50th; 21:38), Leah Kopper (69th; 22:43), Tasheena Ruzinsky (71st; 22:51), and Tessa Siebert (75th; 23:07).
  • “Heidi, Amber, and Ashley ran their final cross country races on Saturday. Heidi and Amber have been major contributors for four years. Ashley competed for three years and I have appreciated her steady, even keel approach. Her depth to the team will also be missed.”
  • Dan Sigley (42nd; 28:51) finished second for the men and Justin Ball (44th; 28:52) was third. “As a freshman, Justin developed a lot as a college runner. He finished the season on a high note by running his second PR in two weeks.”

Results and Stats from the Southwestern/NAIA Mid-States Classic, Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Coach’s Recap:
  • The cross country team competed at the Southwestern College/NAIA Mid-States Classic on Saturday, October 13. The meet is a smaller version of the NAIA national meet with 31 colleges competing. The women finished in 14th place and the men in 20th place.
  • Out of 210 runners, Liz Kleinsasser finished 8th, tying her PR at 19:16. “Liz ran an outstanding race and, on this day, was the first conference runner to cross the finish line. Her performance was especially satisfying because 8th is the highest finish we have had at this meet.”
  • The day was a challenge for the women. Early in the race, officials discovered that the lead pack inadvertently cut the course. The race was stopped at the one mile mark and restarted after the men’s race. “The women actually ended up running an extra mile in race mode. We rose to the challenge in good fashion.”
  • Heidi Schmidt (20:30) ran #2 for the team and finished in 48th position. Coming back from an injury, Amber Wiens (21:24) captured the #3 spot, finishing 101st. “It was positive to have Amber back racing. Her experience is invaluable to us.”
  • Jera Teselle (21:41) and Ashley Schmidt (22:21) rounded out the scoring for us, coming in 111th and 139th respectively.
