Bluejay Stats
Notes from the Dugout
Notes from the Dugout Vol.1 Num.1
April 15
The Tabor College baseball team is winding down the 2008 campaign. The Bluejays (5-11, 16-24) enter the last two weeks of the season with an opportunity to move into the top four spots in the conference. The Bluejays are two games out of fourth place entering competition today with Ottawa University.
The top of the Bluejay lineup has been solid all year. Chris Brown has compiled a .361 batting average and leads the team in home runs with 6 and RBI’s with 38. Tyler Sizemore (.328 avg., 3 HR, 22 RBI), Jordan Lago (.317 avg., 26 RBI, 14 SB) and Dustin Dick (.297, 2 HR, 17 RBI) have been extremely productive this season.
Coach Newhard is satisfied with the pitching and defense, but is always striving for improvement. “We don’t have a lot of strikeout pitchers, so it’s important for our defense to be on top of it’s game. If our pitchers are going strong, our defense keeps us in a lot of games and gives our offense an opportunity to win some games,” said Coach Newhard.
The Tabor Bluejays take on Ottawa today in Hillsboro at 4:00 pm.
They then travel to Sterling College and play at 1:00 pm.
