Tabor offers a high quality English major that equips graduates to succeed in their careers. Personal attention, small classes, and qualified instructors help students achieve their maximum potential.

Students have opportunities to use their skills as tutors in Tabor’s Writing Center. English majors also write for the student newspaper and yearbook.

  • You can be trained and work as Writing Center tutors
  • You have the opportunity to study at Oxford University in England through a CCCU program.
  • You have the opportunity to study film in Los Angeles through a CCCU program.
  • You can participate in PAX, a group sponsored by the English Dept., dedicated to discussion and implementation of peace issues from an Anabaptist/Mennonite perspective.
  • You can participate in the English Dept. poetry/fiction reading evening occurring every other fall.

Our graduates find employment or admission to graduate programs quickly, often before graduation. We believe that our emphasis on grammar knowledge and strong writing and interpretive skills may be a reason why our graduates are desirable in the job market. In addition, our students are praised by employers for their strong sense of ethics and compassion for others.
