Both the Tabor College men’s and women’s basketball teams took time out of a Saturday morning to give back to the very school they will represent on the court this season.
On Aug. 24, the two programs joined forces to help the Tabor maintenance staff landscape a newly renovated parking lot. The lot is located between the north end of the stadium and the men’s quad residence halls.
Together the two teams planted nearly 600 shrubs, rose bushes and trees around the parking lot. Coaches from both teams helped organize the project, along with Vice President of Athletics Rusty Allen and Tabor maintenance employees Tim Unruh and Vince Schroeder.
The Tabor College athletic department strives to integrate four pillars of faith into its competitive programs: service, prayer, witness and devotion. “Serving other people without the expectation of anything in return is a healthy approach to life,” Allen said. “It was exciting to see the basketball players and coaches giving of themselves on a Saturday morning.”
